Creating a membership login for the MIDL Insight Meditation Course is free, simple and easy; it simply requires a few minutes of effort to receive a login. The content of the MIDL Insight Meditation Course, classes, workshops, and retreats will always be offered on a dana (donation) basis. Membership enables MIDL Teachers to focus on community members who have expressed interest by taking the time to sign up, allowing them to tailor-make the course, classes, workshops and retreats to the community's needs.
Once you have created a login and have logged into the MIDL website, you will have access to all pages within the MIDL Insight Meditation Course. If you save your login in your web browser, it will autofill your login each time you visit the MIDL website.
I recommend checking your spam mail filter in your email account. This could also be that the email address entered when you signed up was not correct.
Sometimes technical things happen. If you are creating a membership login for your course and the website is resisting your efforts, there is a solution. We have found that creating a free GMail email address will bypass this issue if it happens.
To troubleshoot this, follow these steps:
A link to the MIDL Insight Meditation Course can be found on the Home page of this website or in the dropdown menu Meditation Course > MIDL Meditation System.
The course How to Meditate for Calm is an introductory course for new meditators.
The MIDL Insight Meditation Course is supported by dana (generosity, donations). In Buddhist terms, dana is more than a donation; it is a relationship entered into between two people or a person and a community, based on both giving and receiving. When someone gives in terms of dana they give openly, mindfully, with care in the gift and care in its consequences. The receiver of the gift is an important part of this relationship.
When you choose to access the MIDL Insight Meditation Course, the classes, workshops and retreats, you have entered into a relationship with the teachers and community. You can choose to accept these gifts, which are all offered as dana, and receive something for free. Or you can choose to enter into the relationship of the gift by being a good receiver. Being a good receiver means receiving openly, with care for the gift, care towards the giver, and care towards the consequences of receiving well. When you receive well, with gratitude, you also become a giver.
When you offer dana towards the course and teachers, you have also become a giver, entered into a relationship with the teachers and community, and have given to future meditators to have access to the MIDL Insight Meditation Course and the community that supports it, so it can continue to be dana-based.
We look forward to sharing your journey with you. Welcome to the MIDL Community.
The MIDL Insight Meditation Course has a 14-Day Introductory Meditation Course called: How to Meditate for Calm, just for you. This course will introduce you to the basics of softening and relaxing in your daily life, helping you develop a regular meditation practice. As an added bonus, the diaphragm breathing techniques in this introductory course will develop understanding of your body and mind by using slow diaphragm breathing, which will lower your experience of stress and anxiety in daily life.
I appreciate your interest in MIDL.
To develop skills in the MIDL samatha-vipassana model of insight meditation and become familiar with MIDL foundation techniques, I recommend spending some time on Meditation Skills 01-04 in Cultivation 01 to create your foundation, and then practising mindfulness of breathing by letting go before moving on to jhana and deeper insight practice.
