MIDL is a systematic way of practicing traditional Buddhist insight meditation (satipatthana vipassana) within your daily life, in a way that gradually teaches your mind to let go.
The name MIDL as an acronym for Mindfulness in Daily Life that points towards the middle balance, or ‘Middle Way’ (MIDL Way) as revealed by the Buddha (SN 56:11) in the Noble Eightfold Path, with the intention to develop harmony through skill in calm, wisdom & morality.
As an MIDL meditator you will learn to find the middle way by neither suppressing nor avoiding any experience, but rather softening/relaxing your relationship towards it to gently let it go.
Join MIDL Teachers Krister Trangius and Monica Heiser in an online weekend retreat in Feb 2026.
This retreat will help you develop skills in working with hindrances to calm through the development of insight into the conditions that support them. This understanding will aid you in deepening your skill in developing clarity and calm of samatha.
