NOBLE EIGHTFOLD PATH CHARACTERISTICS
=SILA and SAMADHI:
The purpose of intentionally cultivating wholesome qualities of heart is to develop the characteristic of Sila and Samadhi to bring harmony and unification to the citta: heart/mind.
MASTERY 6: UNIFICATION OF HEART
Once defensive tendencies are weak in you (experienced as a natural fading), you then bring these defensive tendencies to an end, by conditioning wholesome qualities such as loving kindness, compassion, generosity, gratitude etc, that are revealed as being weak in you.

Next Path 1 & 2: Step 8: Disentangle Your Awareness
NOBLE EIGHTFOLD PATH CHARACTERISTICS
=PANNA, SILA and SAMADHI:
From this point on the MIDL path turns towards cultivation of Indrya Samavara (calming of the senses). This is a very subtle practice of noticing the habitual 'going out' of attention towards the six sense fields and relaxing the effort beneath that 'going out'. Softening of the habitual 'going out' results in the gradual disentanglement of awareness form the six sensoury fields and at the deepest level the disentanglement of the habitual entanglement of awareness with itself.
MASTERY 7: DISENTANGLED AWARENESS
Once harmony has been created, then you focus on nirvikalpa samadhi (objectless unification) as your main practice. Your aim is to train awareness to disentangle from the six sensory fields by observing the habitual 'going out' of your attention towards the sensory fields and softening/relaxing that engagement.
Skillset 10: Develop Skill in Disentangling
MASTERY 8: THE DECONDITIONED MIND
Skillset 11: Develop Skill in Disentangling Awareness
